NEW LIFT ORLANDO VIDEO SERIES

This monthly educational video series was produced pro-bono by Talking Head Studio in 2015 to share the fundamental concepts behind our model in the simplest terms possible--simple enough to fit in two to three minute video. In this first video we explore the concept of a Caring and Connected Neighbor. What do the poor need most? The same thing we all need: A caring and connected neighbor. The difference is that middle class families benefit from the invaluable asset they have in a network of relationships connected to opportunities while most lower income families remain socially and geographically disconnected from building relationships across socio-economic boundaries

Other MEDIA RESOURCES

2016 has started with a bang starting with the successful kickoff for the demolition of the apartments. Some of you have asked me how to share some of the videos you've seen from us lately. Well, to view the video and photos of the demolition event you can check them out at www.liftorlando.org/demolitionkickoff. We've placed the 1 min. version of the Purpose Built video that aired on national television during the Citrus Bowl on the home page of the LIFT Orlando website for people interested in the quick intro to LIFT. Just click on large image of the West Lakes Apartments. Finally, our About page has the longer 7 min. introduction to LIFT Orlando.

FRONTLINE OUTREACH SCHOOL READINESS SCORES

This week we learned that Frontline Outreach received glowing School Readiness Scores (measuring children’s readiness for kindergarten).  The 2015 Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Graduates earned a 89% school readiness score.  Frontline children were ready and prepared for the first day of Kindergarten. Please join me in thanking our dedicated, loving and nurturing teachers along with our entire support staff. New program partners have also just launched this month:

  • Youth Volleyball Training in partnership with Orlando Volleyball Association and USA Volleyball Association

THE ORLANDO CITRUS BOWL LIFT Orlando Listed IN THE 2015-2018 FLORIDA & METRO FORECAST

The Orlando Citrus Bowl and LIFT Orlando were mentioned in the 2015-2018 Florida & Metro Forecast by the Institute of Economic Competitiveness in the College of Business Administration at the University of Central Florida. Because of the redevelopment of Orange Center Boulevard and the construction of the Villages of West Lakes, LIFT Orlando was listed among the five other game changing developments of last year. The mention on page number 66 reads as follows:

"Citrus Bowl area to get new Lift Orlando apartments

After buying two foreclosed apartment complexes located near the Citrus Bowl from the city, Lift Orlando Community Land LLC plans to redevelop them into a multifamily apartment community and senior-living apartments. The project called The Villages at West Lake will take place in two phases, with the first phase consisting of 200 apartments, while phase two entails 120 senior-living apartments."
